A week in Seattle

The first day I was in Seattle it was my pleasure to take Mary to something she and her children had not seen in Seattle. The "Under Ground Tour" This photo shows a toilet that was located below water level at high tide. Tide tables were every where so you would know when you could use it.

This is Snoqualmie Falls on the Snoqualmie River. It is running at flood stage and outing a lot of water down river. Mary was disappointed because of construction the trail to the bottom was closed. A good day with Mary

Day two, Mary was going to show me the Olympic National Park. I picked her up at 7:AM sharp as planed.

This is the home of her daughter Denise. Where our day started. A small mansion on thirteen acres. A beautiful home that I failed to get photos of the interior. Trust me it is magnificent.

The Olympic Mt.'s from the ferry boat. We had to take this ferry over and back. Ferry rides are a good way to grantee you will be late.

This is Mary on the dam on the Elwha River. This dam will be removed in the near future.
To allow fish passage, it will open 80 miles of spawning grounds.

This is Mary checking out a blooming Dogwood tree on the trail. This trail was to a hot spring that wasn't on the map. Every one knew it was there but it wasn't on the map. We were told it was a two and a half mile "walk" on a flat trail that was once a road. They forgot to tell us it was unmaintained. We wadded creeks claimed up wash outs, the flat trail had several stretches of 10+ percent climbs. After a mile and a half of this Mary (a flat lander at sea level) gave out at 2700 ft. elevation and we returned to the car. We were three hours late for dinner at her daughter Dana's. We were forgiven as she got there safe and we had some excellent wine. A very good day.

On day three Mary took me to the Ballard Locks where we watched several vessels go to and from lake Washington.

This Mary with her (in her dreams) boat in the locks. Mary took me to her favorite fish and chips joint where I again forgot to get photos of our meal for lunch. We also got to watch the Mariners finely win a game over the Padres 4-2. A good day again.
