ROOSTER ROCK FIRE

On Monday afternoon Mary called me from Golden Colorado to tell me they had a wild fire outside of town. They were in no danger. A little later I went out side to see this. This fire was discovered at about noon. It has a column about 25,000 ft. high when this photo was taken at 7:30 PM. The fire is over 1,000 and running. It is in Pine and Sagebrush with 5-8 mile winds. A small community was being evacuated.
A retardant bomber returning to the Redmond air field after making a drop. The air field is about twenty miles from the fire area. They have three planes working the fire.

Kind of reminds me of the good old days. When I was working. Then this wasn't spectator sport.

This fire is East of Sisters and the winds are blowing it away from town and Ricks place. Wild fires do make for some pretty pictures.
