What in the hell can you do in Pahrump NV.?

WE went to the Elks club in Pahrump and had a great time. We asked what there was to do and see in the area. We had already had been to Death Valley, Red rock Canyon and the Chinaman's Ranch. They suggested Ash Meadows Wildlife Refuge. It was a great place to visit. They have constructed a board walk to Crystal Springs so you can see the Pup fish and other wild life.
A Collard lizard on the board walk to Crystal Spring.
These are snail shells on the bottom of the stream. They strongly resemble the "auger" shells we found in Mexico.

This is the famous "Pup fish" about an inch and a half long. There were several schools of them in the stream.
The remains of the paved canal that took the water to the farms. This was destroyed when the Supreme Court ruled the the Pup Fish had a right to survive. That was when the refuge was established.
This stream runs from the spring to a reservoir that is used for irrigation of crops.
This is the Crystal Spring. It is forty feet wide and maybe fifteen feet deep. It is 89 degrees year around. The water comes from the mountains and takes thousands of years to get to the surface. The name is right it is Crystal clear.
Longstreet Spring. This spring is about thirty feet in diameter and looks like it might be ten to twelve feet deep. Water temp in the high eighties.
Longstreet cabin located near the Longstreet Spring.
Interior of the Jack Longstreet cabin. It is being reconstructed by the refuge management. They are using the original stones and using photos to try and get each stone right where it came from. They only had to manufacture two stones. Jack was a prospecter and after a few years he left.
On the trail to Devils Hole we saw a Side Winder rattle snake. The first one I have ever seen and the first time Gloria ever saw a rattle snake in the wild. It was about twenty inches long and not aggressive at all. It was a great learning experience.
The snake tries to hide.
This is close as Gloria would let me get to the snake.
A blooming Hedgehogs cactus at the edge of Devils hole.
Devils hole. A very interesting crack in the rocks. The water level is monitored very closely as if it drops two feet the "Pup fish" that live there will die. As the area that they live and breed in would be gone and this is the only place they live. It is about seventeen feet long and a foot and a half wide. There about two hundred of them.
Divers that were doing a "fish count" in Devils Hole. They have to wear wet suets even thou the water is 90 degrees. Because the rocks are sharp. They have found fish down to 90 feet. The deepest any one has gone is 400 ft. But they have never found a bottom.
This is Chuck and Maddie Miller our guides in Pahrump. They have a lovely home in a nice subdivision. They have a one acer lot with a shed for their RV. We met them at the Elks and they adopted us. We had a great time with them and look forward to seeing them again when we are in the area.
You can play golf at the Pahrump. It is very nice. I8 holes with a club house and restaurant. $45.
The eighth hole at the country club.
You can visit the famous Art Bell. Noted for his expertise on flying saucers and other extra terrestrial subjects. He runs a AM radio station from this location.
You can visit a Brothel in Pahrump. They have two that are very nice. The Chicken Ranch has a bar that is open to the public but Sheres has an excellent restaurant. This is where we had lunch and the tour.
This is the entrance "clients" use if they just want to get down to business. There is a bar and restaurant where you can meet and socialize with the girls also. When you get in the "pallor" you can have a "line up" where you can check which one you would like. They also have a "menu" of what you want to do and a price list. Way out my income. Now I know how the NY mayor spent so much. They do take all credit cards no checks or money orders.
Gloria and I on the porch of the brothel. These are actual photos of some of the girls working here. We saw them inside. We were not allowed to take pictures in side.
