Where we stayed. The Ocean Side RV park in Charleston OR. just out side of Coos Bay OR. it is a nice park that is managed very well. We had 18 rigs attend this outing and hopefully every one had a good time. Gloria and I did. it was a lot of work but the results were worth it. Even the weather was great. No rain and very little wind.
This is the "yurt" we held our meeting in and had our meals. The park provided the Crab cooker and pot at no charge. This was very convenient for us.
Every one that visited the Cap Argo highway got to see the whales that were just out side of Simpson Reef.
We were taken crabbing by Capt. Bill Hudson on his 18' Bay Runner. He provided the traps and bait. He knew exactly where to go and get crabs. As we caught 33 crabs in four hours. The rest of the group toured the South slough estuary while Jim and I worked. Jim also gave a pound of flesh to the crab gods for their sacrifice.
Dinner. This is about half the crabs after they have visited the cooker.
There were many "prizes" given out at the meals. Shells that were "imported from Mexico."
Gloria provided the "prizes and the deserts. Pie and Cheese Cake
Dinner was served. We had fresh Salmon provided by one of Gloria's clients, Oysters from the local Oyster farm and Crab caught and cooked by Jim and Lloyd The Oysters were cooked by Bob and Joan and Jim

WE took a tour of the Charleston Coast Guard Rescue Boat Station. We were taken aboard one of the small boats and the Coast guards men explained their mission and how they went about it. There big boat the "Intrepid" was in dry dock and we couldn't tour it.
