BURGER BASH - CAR SHOW - ELVIS

Almost every Saturday The "Palms RV Resort" throws a Burger Bash $2.50 for a burger and all the beer you can drink. This week they also had a "Vintage" Car show and the entertainment was Elvis impersonators. A few thousand showed up.
For me this was the most interesting car in the show. Not in my income level how ever.

This was an interesting entry. It had some strange equipment but no radio. When they went on a call they were out of touch until they got back.

My sister Nova Ann(on the left) and her husband Larry (behind Mary) with some of there FMCA friends joined us at this affair.

Elvis performed on a pool side stage. He was very animated. He did two performances this afternoon. The palms was having three Elvis,s at 7:PM.

Mary had her picture taken with this one. She is the worlds biggest Elvis Fan, will not see him again until next Sunday. We will attend a performance here DURING THE SUPER BOWL Nice timing Sun Vista.

PUERTO PENASCO MEXICO

Dave, eat your heart out. Look what they are doing with Tortuga's now.
They are making wine bottle stoppers with Iron wood carvings on them. We also got one with a Road Runner on it.

This little guy was hamming it up for the camera. He carries that tray on his head and very seldom touches it. In the back ground you can see the supports for the new construction they are doing in front of the fish market. We paid $6.50 a Lb. for shrimp that were 12 to a Lb. We got 30 Lbs. I bought five lbs. of Dorado for $3/lb. The shrimp were fresh off the boat as they were still beheading them when we got there. The shrimp were mostly for our neighbors.
We eat dinner at the "Friendly Dolphin" one of my favorite restaurant in Puerto Penasco. It is so sad the way things are going down there. Only three tables filled at 7:30 PM. There are very few tourist on the streets. We had no trouble going or coming.

Lin's dinner was shrimp wrapped in bacon and baked in the oven.

Chuck had shrimp fried in garlic and butter.

Mary had a grilled fish faille. She thought it was a little dry, but tasty.

I had my favorite Shrimp and pasta. The sauce they used was a chappolti sauce and was very good.

Looking at the Baja from our room. At sunset.

I took this photo early in the evening to show the empty RV park. Only the front row was filled. It was the same way at the Reef RV park my favorite park in P.P.

This is a shot of our hotel the Playa Bonita from the beach. Our room is the second from the front on the left top floor. Chuck and Linn were in the front left. They were very nice rooms, clean and smoke free.

Chuck, Lin, and Mary at "Happy Hour" at the Playa Bonita a must do thing. They broke with tradition and had "Pina Coletta's" I stuck with my ways and had a beer.

A few of the vendors that show up at happy hour. On the far right in the back ground there is a small building separated from the rest of them. That is the "Point" a very good place to eat.

This is from the "Point looking at our hotel.

If you click on the photos they will get larger. In this picture the silver haze is about a million small fish that came into the shallows to avoid the birds that were feeding on them.

THE DANCE

I have always kept flowers in the house. Mostly in the front room. Lately we keep a rose bud in the bedroom. This is the first time one of them bloomed. It has lasted longer than any of the others. I think that it bloomed because of the warm weather we are having.

This is one of the two tables our "hood" took up at the "Three Brothers" Rock and roll dance at Sun Vista "Where the Fun Never Sets". These are mostly casual dress but one guy had a "White sport coat and a pink Carnation" Just like the song.
This is the other table we occupied. There were about thirty of us at this dance.
It got very warm dancing. One of the ladies brought several fans so that the ladies could cool off. We did a lot of dancing.

This is Marilyn and Harvey. They are nest door to us in the park. They are just a little crazy.

This is Chuck and Lyn they are on the other side of us.

These ladies are dancing to "Margareta Ville" This song has a special meaning to three of them.

They were having a ball and when I tried to dance with them I was told to "butt out" as I wasn't in on the reason they were so happy to dance to this tune.

These are the four culprits. Who went to Mexico for a ladies day out. Two Margaritas later the lady with her back to the camera "Kathy" called me and told me not to worry she had the car keys and would get the other three home. Getting across the boarder was a chore but the customs had sympathy for her and let them all go with out searching them.

This couple are not on our block but we "shuffle" with her. They were having a great time. Watching "July" dance it was hard to believe she will have knee replacement surgery on Tuesday.

CROPS -- DINNER WITH THE HOOD

When we got back to Yuma Mary said that her Grapefruit tree had no fruit on it because when she added the extra room and porch they had to remove half the tree. So we were surprised when this Grapefruit terned yellow inside the tree. So our Grapefruit harvest was one. Neither one of us can eat Grapefruit (conflicts with our meds) so we gave it to some friends.
We can how ever eat tomato's. We bought this "Grape" tomato plant and it was going gang busters until we had a cold snap. It never got to freezing but close enough for a tomato plant. It is still growing and will soon have more fruit. We (Mary) has had three tomatoes all ready. ($5 divided by 3 = ??)

We bought another tomato and put it with our Sweet Basil that we got in Colorado. The Basil plant will go and another tomato plant will replace it.

DINNER WITH THE HOODAbout twenty of our neighbors got together last night and went to the City Golf Club for "all you can eat" fish and chips.

The other end of the table. One couple couldn't make it but we placed a call to them in San Diego and had the waitress ask them if it was true that they were to be billed for the dinner. They declined.

What we came for. The fish was good as were the fries. As you can see the breading on the fish wasn't up to my standards.

One of us didn't want fish so he had this great "Club Salad"

The evening was capped off with a lovely desert sunset!
