Two Days at the beach.

The day before Yesterday this was the most exciting thing that happened on the beach.
75 degrees with a steady 17 mile an hour wind with gust up to 26.6

Then yesterday the winds dropped to seven to ten. Lots of activity on the beach. Also on the water. I went into town and bought five lbs. of Flounder and five lbs. of trigger fish and three lbs. of shrimp for a total of $36. Freezer is working over time now.
Last night we returned form dinner to find there was no water in the park. Some one had run over one of the hose bibs and snapped it of at the main line. Thankfully my osmosis system had filled my tank. I have 100 gal. of good water. They are working on the brake. The
wind was up to 20 MPH at 3 this morning but has dropped to 10 now.

Wild Life Zoo

Went to the Zoo on Sunday with half the people in AZ. $28 to get in the door $15 under 12. The place was packed. You were greeted by two blue Macaws as you entered. Most of the animals were in cages so you couldn't get good photos. They had four rides. A train $2 @ a boat $2.50@ a cable tram $3@ and a log ride that went through the aquarium $6@ so a family could drop one to two hundred a day if they didn't eat. Three small pieces of fish and fries $12. The aquarium was nice.

Peoria AZ.

This is my site in Peoria. It is the largest site in the park. Batters are Ken Griffy and Ichiro Sazuki.

Peoria is a bedroom community for Phoenix on the NW side. The big attraction here is the Peoria Sports Complex where the Seattle Mainers and the San Diego Padres Base Ball teams hold their Spring training. We went to a night game last night and there were over 10,000 fans in attendance mostly from Washington state.
Last night the Mariners were host to the Texas Rangers. They were good host as they let the Rangers win 8 to 1.

A day in Quartzite

Terry and Ellen are parked next door. Which makes it nice. Took them on the fifty cent tour of the Quartzite area. Then we went "Palm Canyon". This is a unique area in the desert where palm trees grow in a narrow canyon. it is a half mile hike over rocks and gravel. Ellen made the trip very well on her new knee. Then back to town so Ellen could do some bead shopping and we could have a Taco salad at the "Palo Verde". A good day with good friends.

3 Dreamers RV Resort?

The Photo on the Right is how my day started and with the arrival of my friends it went up hill from there.

This is my setup in the park. This after noon I was joined by Terry and Ellen Evans from Coos Bay. I worked with Terry for twelve years and we go deer hunting together. We had a great dinner of Rib steak Baked potato's and green salad. Once again I forgot to get pictures. We are going to Quartzite in the morning and I will get pictures.

These are photos of the park picnic area, fire pit and cactus garden.

This is a view of the street where I live this three days,

An exciting day in Quartzite AZ

Yesterday was mostly doing nothing. Went to Parker to get some groceries at Safeway. Quartzite has some stores but limited choices and (we are the only store for 30 miles) prices. After returning home went to the "Palo Verdi" café for the best Taco Salad in AZ. We have been stopping there for salad for the last ten years. (one of these days I will remember to take my new fantastic camera). After lunch I made the obligatory trip to the "Main Event" a group of plastic tarp shops. Some are real buildings, all are full of junk. I did score on a Tony Bennett CD for $5 and a gift for the beautiful Lisa and Carla . Something they have lusted for. There is one shop here that has every thing you might need for an RV. Parts that is. New and used. New dash boards instruments, stoves, refrigerators. micro wave and convection ovens and did I mention mirrors. The latter are all used.In Jan. Quartzite is a "Happening" place there is an FMCA rally and the "Big show" a gathering of RV sales and all kids of vendors for RV stuff. Thousands of RV'rs are here parked in the desert. There are still a lot of rigs in the desert "boon docking" no hook ups there is a pump out service for your holding tanks and they will deliver water to your rig. The cost for long term parking is now $100 for the year. For me Boon docking is what you do when Hunting and fishing. Not a life style for me.

Not much going on here

Sunday we had a terrible storm. Rain. Hail. Wind. A funnel cloud was spotted near Foot Hills - a small community East of Yuma - about five miles from our park. Driving into town I found this sign "Organic for the Masses". Only thing wrong with this is the pilots of the spray planes can't see it. The Dove is another illegal alien. They were imported as house pets in California and were released, escaped, and now are all over AZ and Calif.

I moved today after the coach was repaired. Some electrical switch had to be replaced. $333. $65 for parts and the rest was labor. That was after filling the tank - $305. Now in Quartzite for three days of excitement.

It was very windy getting here. Yuma was getting winds in the 30 mile+ range all day and when I got here there was no wind.

Canada friends

The day before yesterday I had the coach washed and yesterday I began saving $75 by waxing it my self. At noon took time to have lunch with Don and Karen Barabe friends from Alberta Canada. We met them in Mazatlan Mexico many years ago. Not much else going on. But if you ever wondered where all that Broccoli cam from here is a hint

Los Algodones, B.C. Mexico

Algodones is a small town on the boarder where you go to get cheap Tequila and prescription drugs with out a prescription. I paid $16 for a Liter of Tequila there that I paid $42 for in Yuma three years ago. I needed glasses (boy did I need glasses). I couldn't believe the difference.

The day started by mopping the floors and shaking out the rugs. Then Howard and Edna stopped and picked me up. First stop was at the "Q" a new Indian Casino just before you get to Algodones. On Tues. they have half price buffet. So you have to stop. Then on to shopping.

Had my eyes checked and ordered the glasses. Progressive Trifocals with Transition lenses. In my old frames. $120 bucks. The price would have been the same if I wanted new frames. Are we getting screwed at home or what? Then we proceeded to wander. Edna went to the beauty shop for a perm that evolved into the works - manicure pedicure. While she was doing this and my glasses were being made I got a shoe shine. $2.50 was the quote, $5 was the price. But he didn't lie about the shine. They do look new. Then Howard and I walked around town fighting off vender's of Rolex watches and Gold and Silver jewelry. (Read baked copper and nickle.) Then we went to an outside restaurant for beer for me and a huge Margarita for Howard. In the past when we eat in this restraint we were badgered by venders selling every thing from cigars to T shirts swith the F word all over them. Today not one vender . Only some "Deer Dancers" much better. Of coarse the 70+ temp with no wind also helped. An order of Nachos with Jalapeno peppers for a snack. When Edna left she was just going to get a perm. Howard got worried when she didn't show up when he thought she would. So he went and checked on her. "She is about done with her hair and won't be long." He didn't know she had decided to have "the works". After two more drinks each she did show up. By then it was time to pickup my glasses and do some shopping. They got some fancy medicated soap for relatives and I got some antibiotics for Ken, Tequila, candy, and 16 cans of my favorite Salsa ($4 total). Two hour ride to get through customs. Then back to Yuma where we stopped at a "rib joint" for a light meal (right).

When we got back to the park remembered I had ordered ten dozen clams from El Golfo and they had come in. So had to cook and clean them. It was all done by 9:30 PM so I could fall asleep during the ten O'Clock news. Woke up half way through Letterman and went to bed. I hope to get better at this on or about the 16th. Hint Hint.
