Where we stayed. The Ocean Side RV park in Charleston OR. just out side of Coos Bay OR. it is a nice park that is managed very well. We had 18 rigs attend this outing and hopefully every one had a good time. Gloria and I did. it was a lot of work but the results were worth it. Even the weather was great. No rain and very little wind.

This is the "yurt" we held our meeting in and had our meals. The park provided the Crab cooker and pot at no charge. This was very convenient for us.

Every one that visited the Cap Argo highway got to see the whales that were just out side of Simpson Reef.

We were taken crabbing by Capt. Bill Hudson on his 18' Bay Runner. He provided the traps and bait. He knew exactly where to go and get crabs. As we caught 33 crabs in four hours. The rest of the group toured the South slough estuary while Jim and I worked. Jim also gave a pound of flesh to the crab gods for their sacrifice.

A bucket of crabs waiting their turn in the pot.

Dinner. This is about half the crabs after they have visited the cooker.

There were many "prizes" given out at the meals. Shells that were "imported from Mexico."

Gloria provided the "prizes and the deserts. Pie and Cheese Cake

Dinner was served. We had fresh Salmon provided by one of Gloria's clients, Oysters from the local Oyster farm and Crab caught and cooked by Jim and Lloyd The Oysters were cooked by Bob and Joan and Jim

Our co-host Susan and Ralph. Susan came up with the menu and entertainment ideas. As well as a lot of work getting things set up for the meals and contest. Ralf and I just said "yes dear"

The "chow line"

Chowing down

We also visited the "Mill" Casino in North Bend for Sunday Brunch. They had an excellent variety of food and we all over ate,

WE took a tour of the Charleston Coast Guard Rescue Boat Station. We were taken aboard one of the small boats and the Coast guards men explained their mission and how they went about it. There big boat the "Intrepid" was in dry dock and we couldn't tour it.

After the tour we went to the "Look Out " on what is locally known as "Chicken Point" from there you can see the Coos River Bar. Here the dredge is dumping its load of "spoils" it has dredged from the channel.

We had a sand castle building contest. Only three contestants so there were no losers.

First prize winner for Sand castle building.

After dinner we blew "bubbles"?

Some of us relaxed with a book, and slept.

We had a camp fire where we exchanged stories and jokes.

Taylors Elk

Saterday our grand son Taylor shot this six point Elk with Archery equipment. It is a very nice bull. He is haveing it mounted but his walls are not tall enough to hold it. It will look nice next to my buck in his dad's log cabin.

Home at last

Good as new. Coach Masters did an excellent job on our coach. They got it ready for the outing with the Rim Rock Roamers. Our local chapter of FMCA. WE are still missing the Left head light. They put the old one back in. It lights but can't be aimed as the housing is broken. We got an E mail from Gulfstream apologizing (again) for the delay and the head light was shipped last Fri. We will leave for the coast on the 18th.

They are getting there

We made some improvements of our own today. We took our new toad in to have it wired for towing and while they worked on it they allowed me to install the new kitchen faucet that Gloria got at a garage sale for $5. It was $175 on line. It is better than the one in our house. Looks good and works. Only three hours to install. There is not much room under that sink for a fat old man. The stuff on the sink is the molding that goes around the windshield on the inside.

They have the windshield wipers on and they work. The mirrors are in place and they work. Hung the door awning a spot light. The Air horns are on and all the antennas, and clearance lights. The missing head light is on the plane and should be here in the morning (as promised by Gulfstream yesterday) not hanging by my thumbs waiting. It is really looking good.

We are still waiting for parts. Part ?

We are still awaiting the left head light. Gulfstream says it is on the way. To where we don't know. They are polishing the new paint with McGuire's wax. Interesting.

What started it all!

This is what greeted us when we came out of the restaurant after lunch. While traveling into Colorado to visit our son Steve and his family and Sarah our grand daughter and her family Gab our first great grand child and her mother Connie.
We had a Stevens Transport Peterbuilt truck planted in the front of our coach. Seems the driver unhooked his trailer and didn't set his park brake. Because of this and Gulfstream's slow parts department we have been with out our rig since mid July. But now it is just about finished. We will be posting about the additions we will be doing as soon as we get it back.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel!

Today is a red letter day. They pulled the coach out of the Paint bay and it really looks good. As soon as they got it out they took the mirrors in and painted them. In the morning they will start putting the lights, horns, mirrors, door awning and wind shield wipers back on. Then they will install the dash and the interior trim. They hope to have it back to us on Fri. this week. That will give us twelve days to get ready for our trip to the coast with the "Rim Rock Roamers" The local chapter of FMCA. We are co-host for this trip and it important that we get to it. After missing so many trips this summer.

Pulling the masking tape off. It seems like there was miles of it.

Getting the last of the tape off.

Nice and shiny.

Out in the daylight fully painted. Ain't she pretty?

Parked in the sun to dry

In the paint shed!

It was hard to get photos of the Coach. It is in the paint room getting the first
color. They will have to do three colors and should be done tomorrow.
This shows the side that is completely masked off. There is only a small window to look through.
